26,500kg sugar seized from city market

The Directorate of National Consumers' Right Protection (DNCRP) on Tuesday seized 530 sacks of sugar hoarded by two shops at Mohammadpur Krishi Market with illegal motive, reports BSS.  

Four DNCRP assistant directors conducted the raid on Bismillah Traders and Satata Traders and seized the sugar weighing a total of 26, 500 kilograms, said a press release. 

The DNCRP personnel also fined Bismillah Traders Tk 50,000 and Satata Traders Tk one lakh as the shop owners ‘illegally hoarded’ the sugar to sell at higher price although the government fixed the price of per KG sugar at Tk 102 at retail level.
