There are approximately 8,500 students at Nazrul University, but there is only one ambulance for them, depriving many of them of the emergency service at a critical moment.

In addition, 500 teachers, officers and employees are working there.

The authorities concerned assured the students of increasing the number of ambulances, but promises remain unfulfilled.

Director of Student Counseling and Guidance Office Dr. Tapan Kumar Sarkar said there are nearly 3,000 resident students in four halls on the university campus. Besides, a lot of students are renting around the campus, he said. “I hope that the administration will raise the number of ambulances at the university.”

Expressing discontent with the poor service, students said many on many occasions failed to avail themselves of the emergency services. They urged the university authorities to address the issue as quickly as possible.

University Registrar agriculturist Dr Humayun Kabir said that they are trying to sort out the problem.

When asked why there is so much delay and so many assurances, he said, “I’ve received these assurances since the beginning. But none of the pledges is being fulfilled.”
