North South University (NSU) has launched a new department ‘Media and Journalism’ under the Department of Political Science and Sociology with the objective of increasing skilled workforce in the world of mass communication and journalism, said a press release.

On the occasion of inauguration of the Media and Journalism Programme, a roundtable discussion titled ‘Kemon Media Graduate Chai’ (What kind of media graduate we want) was held on the NSU premises in the capital on Saturday.

Professor Atiqul Islam, vice-chancellor of NSU, Hasibur Rahman, executive director of Management and Resources Development Initiative, Syed Ishtiaq Reza, CEO and Editor-in-Chief of Global Television, Ashraf Kaiser, CEO of Benchmark PR, Anisul Hoque, prominent writer and associate editor of The Daily Prothom Alo, Syed Gousul Alam Shaon, managing partner and country head of Grey Advertising Bangladesh Ltd., Tushar Abdullah, CEO of Ekhon TV, Dr Gitiara Nasreen, professor at Department of Mass Communication and Journalism of  the University of Dhaka, Abdun Noor Tushar, CEO of Gati Media Ltd, Khairul Basher, head of communications of Grameenphone Ltd, Syed Ashfaqul Haque, executive editor of  The Daily Star and other dignitaries were present at the event.
