DU launches spl software ‘dubd21’

Dhaka University (DU) has unveiled a special software named 'dubd21' for identifying Bangla text similarity.

DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman inaugurated the software in a programme as the chief guest at Abdul Matin Chowdhury Virtual Classroom of the university on Tuesday.

A team of researchers led by Assistant Professor Abdus Satter of the university’s Institute of Information and Technology developed the software.

Addressing on the occasion, Prof Akhtaruzzaman congratulated the researchers for developing the software and said that it is an extraordinary achievement in the field of fundamental research of Dhaka University.

"Through this software, MPhil and PhD thesis, journals, essays, articles, student thesis, assignments and related research papers written in Bangla can be verified and Bangla text similarity can be identified. This software will play an important role in quality improvement of education and basic and applied research," he said.

He also hoped that this kind of fundamental innovation will contribute to the improvement of Dhaka University's ranking and will have an impact on the overall development of the country.
