A helicopter of Bangladesh Army Aviation made an accidental emergency landing at a reservoir in Nawabganj upazila of Dhaka on Wednesday.

The BELL-206 helicopter made the emergency landing around 1:05pm due to a mechanical failure while practising the emergency landing procedure as part of a regular training flight, according to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Directorate.

Both the pilots -- Lt Col Ismail and Major Shams -- were safely evacuated from the helicopter after the emergency landing. They were airlifted to the Combined Military Hospital in Dhaka and are now out of danger, it said.

Local police are providing assistance for the security of the area and the helicopter. Also, security and rescue teams were dispatched from Postagola and Mawa cantonments.
