Covid-19 infections are increasing in the country with over 10,000 positive cases were reported in the last six days.
According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), 1,728 infection cases and four deaths were reported in last 24 hours till 8am on Wednesday.
It was for the 15th consecutive day that the daily corona cases stayed above the 1,000 marks, which is a big change in the country’s coronavirus situation.
The daily infection rate has reported 16.89 percent on Wednesday. It was 16.74 percent on Tuesday, 16.51 percent on Monday, 15.53 percent on Sunday and 13.22 percent on Saturday.
The positivity rate surged to 5.76 percent on June 16, which was the highest in the last three and half months. Earlier, on February 23 the positivity rate was reported at 6.77 percent.
So far, 29,185 coronavirus infected patients have died and 19,84,700 cases were detected.
Meanwhile, 526 corona patients were recovered in the last 24 hours raising the total number to 19,09,799. The recovery rate also has stood at 96.23 percent.
The DGHS data said a total of 10,915 corona infected patients and 36 deaths were reported across the country including in Dhaka in last six days of the current month July.
The country is currently facing fourth wave of the coronavirus infection as it already has crossed three waves of the virus transmission since after beginning the pandemic across the world.
Country’s first coronavirus infection case was reported on March 8 in 2020 and first death from the disease was reported on March 18 the same year.
In the fourth wave of the coronavirus infection, the number of infection cases has started increasing since mid of June this year.
Then the number of infection cases and death keep rising.
