Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested 44 muggers and dopers from the capital’s Paltan, Motijheel, Shahbagh and Khilgaon areas on Tuesday.

Eight knives, four razors, four towels, 19 toxic ointments, 15 mobile phone sets, and 14 SIM cards were seized from them.

At a press briefing at his office in the city on Wednesday, Lt Col Arif Mohiuddin Ahmed, commanding officer of the RAB-3, said this.

The muggers used to waylay the passersby and rob them of their valuables at gunpoint.

The arrestees were mostly active at different bus and train stations and launch terminals.            They committed the crimes at Khilgaon rail gate, Malibagh rail gate, Dainik Bangla, Pirjongi Mazar crossing, Kamalpur Battala, Motijheel Calbert Road, Nasirer Tek, Hatirjheel,  Shahbagh, Gulbagh,  Rajuk crossing, UBL crossing, Paltan crossing,  Golap Shah Bazar area, High Court crossing, Abdul Goni Road,  Maniknagar Stadium and Nandipara Bridge areas, said the officer.
