Positivity rate on decrease

No new death, 116 fresh cases reported

The country’s Covid-19 situation is now under control as the infection rate has declined and the number of deaths has remained below five for the last few weeks.   

According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), none died of the virus in 24 hours until Monday morning while 116 cases were reported during the time after testing 10,899 samples.

 Zero death was recorded for three consecutive days from Tuesday to Thursday as two people died of the virus on Friday, none on Saturday and three on Sunday.

The daily cases has decreased to below 1,000 on February 25 after about eight weeks as 892 cases were reported on January 5.

The number of total cases has risen to 19,50,725 with the overall positivity rate of 14.21 percent while the daily infection rate has remained below four percent for 21 consecutive days since February 28.

The daily infection rate was reported 1.06 percent on Monday, 0.90 percent on Sunday, 0.83 percent on Saturday and 1.16 percent on Friday. 

The daily infection rate crossed 30 percent in the country during the third wave of the virus transmission and it started declining further from the beginning of the current month.

The total death toll has increased to 29,117 with the case fatality rate of 1.49 percent.

Some 1,140 Covid-19 patients recovered in 24 hours until Monday morning, raising the total to 18,71,611. The recovery rate has reached 95.94 percent.

The first case was reported in the country on March 8 in 2020 while the first death was recorded on March 18 of the same year.
