BNP leader Major (Retd) Akhtaruzzaman has been expelled from the party on charge of violation of party discipline.

BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi in a statement on Sunday confirmed the news.

The party has expelled Akhtaruzzaman over an allegation that he was involved in activities against the party discipline, Rizvi said.

“Akhtaruzzaman was suspended from all the posts as per article 5-Ga of the party charter,” he added.

Akhtaruzzaman contested from Kishoreganj-2 constituency in the last general election but could not win.

In a talk-show recently, he criticized the current activities of the party leaders.
