Two arrested with 30 gold bars at HSIA

Members of the Airport Armed Police Battalion (APBn) have arrested two men with 30 gold bars weighing around 3.48kg, from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Thursday.

The detainees are Biman Security Guard Ebrahim Khalil and Kamal Uddin, a passenger came to Dhaka from Saudi Arabia.

APBn Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Mohammad Ziaul Haque said Bangladesh Biman Flight BG 4040 landed at HSIA from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia at 3:30 pm on Thursday. At that time, the airport armed police arrested Ibrahim Khalil.

He later admitted to questioning that he had a gold bar. At that moment, he took out a small bag with 30 gold bars weighing 3.48kg from his jacket pocket.

He also said after detailed interrogation, the identity of the passenger carrying the gold was confirmed by him. Later, Airport Armed Police also detained passenger Kamal Uddin.
