Hey look, Ghajini is coming. Wicketkeeper-batsman Mushfiqur Rahim screamed to welcome short-haired former national skipper Mashrafe Mortaza at the BCB National Cricket Academy premises in Mirpur when he arrived to join his Minister Dhaka teammates in the opening day practice session of the BPL teams that started on Sunday.

Mashrafe’s new haircut gives him the Aamir Khan’s look that the Bollywood superstar carried in his super hit movie ‘Ghajini’ but unlike that movie, things were quite different in academy premises in Mirpur considering there was no high voltage action rather it seemed happy gathering of friends after a while.

Most of the major stars were present in the opening day’s training session apart from Shakib Al Hasan, who apparently was not available for his personal reason. However, it hardly had any long-lasting effect for the photojournalists considering they had their share, courtesy of all the gossiping that was taking place between the stars at the academy premises.

Tamim Iqbal, Mahmudullah and Mashrafe are hogging all spotlights since the players’ draft of BPL and the trio seemed to be determined to prove a point considering the three cricketers were placed in the highest A category but were not picked as a direct signing.

The overnight change in the Dhaka franchise’s ownership paved way for Mahmudullah as he turned out to be the direct signing of the team in the morning of the players’ draft where the T20 skipper and BCB selector Habibul Bashar were bidding for Dhaka in the draft.

Mahmudullah didn’t take time as he included Tamim and Mashrafe within the first three calls and the move will mark the participation of the senior trio in a team for the first time in BPL history.

The trio is working hard to make sure they are well prepared for the tournament and though they were seen cracking jokes that they never seemed to have taken anything for granted considering Tamim had some batting session while Mahmudullah and Mashrafe were busy in the gym.

Cumilla Victorians head coach Mohammad Salahuddin had a good time with his students. Mushfiq also didn’t bat this day and it was understandable considering he arrived from the New Zealand series just a couple of days ago but his decision to join the teammates proves that BPL will have all the excitement.

Probably, it didn’t go unnoticed by Shakib as well, who preferred to have a long session in the nets along with his childhood mentor Nazmul Abedin, both of whom are part of Fortune Barisal.

Nazmul and Bangladesh team Director Khaled Mahmud were up against each other in the last BCB board election but they were seen making plans considering Mahmud is appointed as the head coach of Fortune Barisal.

There is a saying in the cricketing fraternity that everything is possible in BPL and the teaming up of Mahmud and Nazmul suggests it is nothing but true.
