The daily coronavirus infection rate has been increasing day by day in the country as the infection rate has neared 9 percent in the 24hours.

The number of daily infection cases has crossed 2,000 mark for last two consecutives days.

According to Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), two more Covid-19 patients died and 2,458 infection cases were recorded in the last 24 hours till Tuesday morning.

Earlier, 2,231 infection cases were reported on Monday, 1,491 on Sunday, 1,116 cases on Saturday, 1146 cases on Friday, 1140 cases  on Thursday, 892 on Wednesday, 775 on Tuesday and 674 on Monday.

After around four months, the country recorded the infection rate over 5% for last 5 consecutive days.

The daily coronavirus infection rate has been reported 8.97%. It was 8.53% on Monday, 6.78% on Sunday, 5.79% infection rate on Saturday and 5.67% infection rate on Friday.

The number of total infections has risen to 15,98,389 with the overall positivity rate 13.63%. Some 27,399 samples were tested in the last 24 hours to detect the infection cases.

The national death toll has increased to 28,107 with a case fatality rate of 1.76 percent. However, the number of death remains below 10 for the last 84 consecutive days.

Some 274 more Covid-19 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours till Tuesday morning, raising the total number of recoveries to 15,51,387. The recovery rate reached 97.06%.

The country's maiden cases were reported on 8 March in 2020 and the first death from the virus was reported on 18 March.
