Showcase country’s natural beauty for attracting tourists further
State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism Mahbub Ali cuts a ribbon to inaugurate the Chittagong Travel Mart 2022 at The Peninsula Chittagong Hotel in Chattogram on Thursday.

CHATTOGRAM: State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism Md Mahbub Ali laid emphasis on showcasing country’s natural beauty in a planned way for attracting more tourists from home and abroad.

Bangabandhu tunnel, Padma Bridge, Marine Drive and Rail tracks till Ghundhum will also attract tourists from across the world, he said.

The state minister said these while addressing as the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony of three-day ‘12th Chittagong travel and tourism fair ‘Chittagong Travel Mart-2022’ at Zinia Hall of hotel ‘The Peninsula Chittagong’ on Thursday.

‘The Bangladesh Monitor’ organised the fair.

Bangladesh Tourism Board Chief Executing Officer (CEO) Jabed Ahmed and Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) President Mahbubul Alam were the special guests while The Bangladesh Monitor Editor Kazi Wahidul Alam and Additional Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Chattogram Divisional Tourist Police Md Moslem Uddin addressed the programme among others.

The state minister Mahbub said, “Bangladesh has immense potential in the tourism sector as it is blessed with all the elements for tourism like river, sea, hills, forests, history, tradition and culture.”

“There are 1,700 tourist spots in the county. We need to popularise these spots with proper plans,” he added.

CCCI President Mahbubul Alam in his speech said tourism sector cannot develop without connectivity. So, proper attention must be paid to road and air communications.

He also mentioned the limitations of Chittagong airport as large flights cannot land there, and also urged for increased security in hill tracts to attract tourists further.

Mentionable, 26 organisations including airlines, travel agent and hotels are taking part in the fair.

The fair is open for all everyday from 10:00am to 8:00pm till January 8.
