Bangladesh Cricket Board said on Monday that debutant Yasir Ali is under observation for 24 hours following his blow in the head sustained while batting that eventually ruled him out from the two-match series opener against Pakistan in Chattogram.
Nurul Hasan came on as a concussion substitute for debutant Yasir Ali in the second innings while Yasir underwent a CT scan following the incident.
Yasir, who struck unbeaten 36 of 72 balls, was struck on the helmet by Shaheen Afridi when he ducked to leave the ball that did not rise as per his expectation. With just seven balls remaining before drinks, no concussion test was conducted at that point but team management decided to go after he was informed about not feeling well.
After losing Mushfiqur Rahim in the very first over, Yasir along with Liton Das resurrected the innings adding 47 runs and helping the hosts take a substantial lead.
This is the third time Bangladesh have needed concussion substitutes. The first instance was during the Kolkata Test in 2019 when Liton Das and Nayeem Hasan were struck on the head. Mohammad Saifuddin was also substituted during an ODI against Sri Lanka in May this year.
