Chattogram Division moved to the top in the tier-2 points table of the ongoing National Cricket League after they defeated Barishal Division by an innings and 73 runs at the BKSP on Tuesday.
Off-spinner Nayeem Hasan claimed 4-10 while Mehedi Hasan and Mehedi Hasan Rana shared five wickets between them as Chattogram bowled out Barishal for 134 runs in their second innings on the third day of the fourth round match.
In the other tier-2 match, Tanzid Hasan Tamim struck his maiden first-class ton as Rajshahi Division finished the third day’s play with a 75-run lead over Dhaka Metro at the BKSP.
Tanzid made 145 off 171 balls while Junaid Siddique scored unbeaten 59 runs as Rajshahi reached 241-4 at stumps on day three after bowling Metro all out for 398 runs.
In tier-1, Rangpur Division will need 195 runs to register their victory over Khulna Division on the final day as they reached 53-1 at stumps on day three in Sylhet.
Rangpur’s Nasir Hossain earlier claimed four wickets while Sohrawordi Shuvo and Alauddin Babu took three wickets each as they bowled out Khulna for 212 runs in their second innings to be set for a target of 248 runs.
Khulna’s Amit Majumder and Mehidy Hasan scored 55 and 54 runs respectively.
Dhaka’s Abdul Mazid and Raqibul Hasan scored 59 and 54 runs respectively in the innings while Sylhet’s left-arm spinner Nasum Ahmed, who bagged 7-43 in the first innings, claimed 3-69 in the second innings.
