The final admission test of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) for 2020-21 academic session was held amid a nationwide transport strike on Saturday.

The 'Ka' unit exam was held from 10:00am to 12:00pm while the 'Kha' unit exam was held from 2:00pm to 3:00pm. BUET Vice-chancellor (VC) Prof Satya Prasad Majumder along with other top officials of the university visited exam halls in the morning.

BUET Director of Students' Welfare (DSW) Prof Md Mizanur Rahman confirmed that 99.01 per cent students were present in the exam.

“There was no chance of postponing the test even though the strike was going on. We made this decision after considering many issues,” he said.

“Out of 6000 admission seekers, 5952 took part in the exam,” he added. This year, students will be admitted in 12 departments under 6 faculties. A total of 1215 seats available in the departments.

Earlier, BUET published the results of preliminary test on October 26 and the successful candidates of the pre-test were allowed to sit for the final exam.
