173 admitted to hospitals in 24 hrs

A total of 173 dengue patients were hospitalised across the country in the last 24 hours until Thursday morning, bringing the total to over 5,000 this month.   

Though the number of dengue cases has already crossed the 5,000 mark in the current month, the country’s dengue situation has remained ‘stable’ for last few weeks.  

According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), 173 dengue patients were admitted to hospitals while no death was reported in the country in the last 24 hours until Thursday morning.  The DGHS data said a total of 5,030 dengue patients were hospitalised in October, 7,841 in September, 7,698 in August, 2,286 patients in July, 272 in June, 43 in May, three in April, 13 in March, nine in February and 32 dengue patients in January this year.

Some 12 dengue patients died across the country in July, 34 in August, 23 in September and 20 deaths have been reported in the current month, the health directorate data added. The DGHS said 139 new patients were hospitalised in the capital and 34 patients were outside the city in the last 24 hours.
