Durga puja being celebrated with gaiety in Netrakona

NETRAKONA: Durga Puja, the five-day long biggest religious festival of the Hindu community, is being celebrated here with pomp and gaiety and due religious fervor.

District Puja Celebration Committee (DPCC) office sources said the Puja is being held at 513 mandaps following the health guidelines due to corona pandemic situation, reports BSS.

Meanwhile, the government allocated taka 4, 05,000 and 258 tonnes of rice as special assistance for the district Puja mandaps to assist in celebration of the festival.

District administration has already taken fool-proof safety measures for ensuring security of the worshippers and peaceful celebration of the religious rituals.

A large number of worshippers and visitors were seen visiting the puja mandaps to have a look at the Goddess Durga and seek her divine blessings for their welfare and betterment of the mankind.

The puja festival will end with immersion of the idols of the Goddess Durga in different water-bodies here on Friday, president of DPCC Mongal Chandra Shaha said.
