HC to Mauritius marks anniv of Bangabandhu’s 1st Bangla speech at UN

Bangladesh High Commission, Port Louis, Mauritius and the City Council of Port Louis have jointly planted 47 trees at Plaine Verte in the city as a part of the celebration of Mujib Year and 47th anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s historical 1st speech in Bangla at the UN.  

Vice Prime Minister of the Government of Mauritius and Minister of Local Government and Disaster Management Mohammad Anwar Hasnu was present as the chief guest on the occasion on Saturday while Kavydass Ramano, Minister of Environment, Solid Waste Management and Climate Change, attended the event as the special guest.

In her welcome address, Bangladesh High Commissioner Rezina Ahmed paid her deepest tribute to the greatest Bengali of all time Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

She briefly elaborated the significance of the day and said it was a matter of great pride that Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina alike her father addressed the General Assembly of the United Nations in Bangla.
