The country has made further progress in fighting coronavirus as its positivity rate remained below 5 percent for the fifth consecutive day on Saturday.
According to the Directorate General of Health Services, 25 people have died of coronavirus and 818 cases have been detected in the last 24 hours till 8am on Saturday.
Of the 25 deaths, 11 were reported in Dhaka division while six in Chattogram, four in Khulna and two each in Rangpur and Sylhet divisions. Mymenshing, Barishal and Rajshahi division witnessed no death from corona.
The infection rates were 4.54 percent, 4.61 percent, 4.79 percent and 4.69 percent in daily tally since Tuesday last. Twenty-five patients died of corona in a day which led the toll to 27.393 thousand since first fatality on March 18, 2020.
Earlier on Thursday, 24 corona fatalities and 1,144 new cases were reported.
According to health experts, the Covid-19 situation is coming under control if the positivity rate remains below 5 percent for two consecutive weeks.
The highest 264 deaths were recorded in the country on August 5 and August 10 while record 16,230 cases were reported on July 28.
The highest corona deaths and infections in the last 24 hours were registered in Dhaka division.
Till now some 1.55 million of 9.59 million samples have so far been tested at 815 labs across the country are positive with overall 16.15 percent infection rate.
