Dhaka University Journalists’ Association (DUJA), one of the oldest organisations of campus journalists in the country, observed its 36th founding anniversary in a colorful and festive atmosphere on Sunday.

On the occasion, cake cutting ceremony and friendly football match were held.

DU Vice-Chancellor and the main patron of the association Prof Md Akhtaruzzaman inaugurated the day-long programme by cutting a cake in the morning.

DUJA President Mehedi Hasan, General Secretary Sazzadul Kabir and other members of the association were present at the programme.

Greeting DUJA, DU VC Prof Md Akhtaruzzaman said, “When someone has a negative attitude, his brain judges everything with a negative attitude. So we should avoid it. We should always cultivate a positive attitude and focus on objective news. Our goal is to develop beauty and well-being. Anything can be made beautiful through a positive attitude.”

He urged all the members of the association to present all the developments and other news of the university with a positive attitude.

President Mehedi Hasan said that the history of DUJA is the history of objective journalism.

“As the members of the association have worked through their devotion and professionalism for the larger interest of the nation in the past, they will continue work in the future.”

General Secretary Sazzadul Kabir said that the journalists’ association has been playing an important role in building a solid foundation of objective journalism and campus journalism by crossing the difficult path of its inception.

“Despite their young age, the members of this association are leaving a clear impression of professionalism in campus journalism with the inspiration they have received from the seniors.”
