Corona infection rate falls further

43 more die, 1383 cases detected

The coronavirus recovery rate has further increased to 97.33 percent with a good number of patients recovering from the viral disease every day in the country.

Some 2,887 more patients have recovered from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours till Sunday morning, raising the total number of recoveries to 1,501,541.

Currently, there are only 13,917 active coronavirus cases in the country.

Meanwhile, the country has reported 43 more deaths and 1,383 infections from coronavirus during the 24-hour period, registering a fall in the daily infection rate.

On Saturday, 35 deaths and 1,190 infections were logged in the country.

The daily positivity rate declined to below 6 percent with 5.62 percent registered in the last 24 hours after Saturday’s 6.05 percent.

Earlier, deaths of 38 coronavirus infected patients died and 1,907 infection cases were reported on Friday, 51 deaths and 1,862 infection cases were reported on Thursday, 51 deaths and 1,901 cases were reported on Wednesday and 35 deaths and 2,074 cases were reported in the country on Tuesday.

Earlier on March 11, the health directorate recorded a 5.82 percent positivity rate in the country.

It said the highest of 264 deaths was recorded in the country on August 5 and August 10 while the highest of 16,230 cases were reported on July 28.

The number of total infections has risen to 15,42,683 with a daily positivity rate of 5.62 percent while the overall infection rate has declined to 16.35 percent.

Earlier on June 7, the health officials reported 11.47 percent positivity rate followed by an alarming rise in infections which reached its peak at 32.55 percent on July 24.  The number of death in a day remains below 60 for last thirteen days in row with the declining of the infection and casualty in the country.

Besides, the national death toll has increased to 27,225 with a case fatality rate of 1.76 per cent.

The DGHS said the coronavirus situation is worst in the capital as the highest corona deaths and infections were registered in Dhaka division in the last 24 hours.

Of the 43 fresh deaths, 19 were reported in Dhaka division while eight in Chattogram, four deaths were reported in Rajshahi, six in Khulna, no death in Barishal division, three in Rangpur divisions while one in Mymensigh and two in Sylhet divisions in the last 24 hours.

Of the 1,383 new cases, 916 were logged in Dhaka division while 27 in Mymensingh, 150 in Chattogram, 70 in Rajshahi, 68 in Rangpur, 95 in Khulna, 11 in Barishal and 46 in Sylhet division.

A total of 24,623 samples, out of 24,128 collected, were tested at 810 labs in the country during the period. With this, 94,37,656 samples have so far been tested across the country.

The country's maiden cases were reported on 8 March last year and the first death from the virus was reported on 18 March.
