Masuda M Rashid Chowdhury, a lawmaker and presidium member of Jatiya Party, died from multiple health complications while undergoing treatment in a city hospital early on Monday. She was 70.

Masuda is survived by her son, daughter and a host of relatives and well-wishers.

Jatiya Party Chairman and Deputy Leader of the Opposition Party in the parliament GM Quader expressed his deep shock at the death of Masuda M Rashid Chowdhury and termed her a “great human being and an honest, humble and an amiable leader”.

Masuda Chowdhury’s first namaz-e-janaza was held at her residence in Moghbazar after Zuhr prayers.

The second namaz-e-janaza of Masuda was held at Jatiya Party central office at Kakrail after Asr prayers where Jatiya Party Chairman GM Quader and Co-Chairman ABM Ruhul Amin Howlader, among others, were present.

She will be laid to eternal rest today at her family graveyard in Raojan’s Gohira following her two namaz-e-janazas at Laldighi Maidan in Chattogram and her village home in Gohira.
