Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal has decided to take part in the upcoming fourth edition of Everest Premier League (EPL), Nepal’s foremost franchise T20 tournament, scheduled from September 25 to October 9 at Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur.
The Daily Sun learnt that Tamim had applied to the Bangladesh Cricket Board for a no objection certificate (NOC) to take part in the tournament and he’s expected to receive it by today.
It is understood that Tamim, who had withdrawn him from the upcoming ICC World T20, felt confident after seeing his recovery following the rehabilitation program that he underwent after aggravating a knee injury.
The EPL was initially scheduled to start on March 14 but it had to be postponed following a government directive to refrain from mass gatherings amid fears about the transmission of Covid-19. Chris Gayle, Sandeep Lamichhane and Mohammad Shahzad are few big names expected to feature in the tournament.
