Bangladesh cricket team has kept up their winning streak and is leading the five-match T20I series by 2-0 after the first two matches against visiting New Zealand, against whom the host conceded defeat in each of their previous ten confrontations at home and abroad. This series is an opportunity for the host to improve the head-to-head stats against the Black Caps, since the Tigers are now known to be a mighty opponent across the formats at home. The recent performance of the team against the Aussies is telling in favour of them as well.

After talking much about the wicket of Mirpur, the cricket lovers enjoyed a nail-biting finish in the second T20I, where the visitors were just four runs short in chasing a competitive 141-6 by the Tigers. The performance of Bangladesh impressed the team management, along with the fans, as the batters put up their highest total in the last seven matches, and the bowlers have proved it enough to clinch the victory. With this win, Bangladesh has secured the 6th spot in the ICC World T20 Team Ranking for the first time. We congratulate the Tigers for this success.

Before entering an international tournament like the World Cup, the habit of winning plays a crucial role for any team in gaining confidence to do better on the world stage. The Tigers, therefore, are surely on the right track. Stats says the win in the second match was the 11th victory in the last 13 T20 internationals played at home since 2019 and 8th in the last ten games, played across the borders. Most of these wins have come by following a formula of Bangladeshi-brand of cricket, much different from the world-acknowledged power-hitting cricket, where Bangladesh has a huge lack. These wins will surely boost players’ self-belief in materialising their own strength and remove the tag— Bangladesh is not a better T20 side.

We hope that the tigers will continue such performances in the rest of the matches in this series, which would work as a tonic to do better in the upcoming world cup since these matches are the last chance to take good preparation. Best wishes for team tigers.
