Newborn stolen from Noakhali General Hospital

NOAKHALI: A newborn baby was stolen from Ward No 2 in 250-bed Noakhali General Hospital around 08:00 pm on Wednesday.

Residential Medical Officer (RMO) of the hospital Syed Mohiuddin Abdul Azim confirmed the matter.

The stolen newborn is the son of Abdul Malek and Julekha Begum, residents of Krishnarampur area of Ward No 4 of Noakhali municipality.

RMO Syed Mohiuddin Abdul Azim added that the mother of the newborn, Julekha Begum went to the wash room, left her baby alone in the hospital bed, where the baby was stolen.

For a couple of hours after that, they could not be found in different floors and wards of the hospital.

Officer-in-charge (OC) of Sudharam Police Station Shahed Uddin said the theft of the newborn had been verbally reported to the police. The matter is being taken seriously.
