Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Md Shafiqul Islam has said they are embarrassed over the unprofessional conduct of Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Golam Saklain Shithil with actress Porimoni.

“We are embarrassed over the unprofessional conduct of Saklain with the actress. It cannot be maintained that a BCS cadre officer was engaged in an immoral task. Action will be taken against him,” he said.

The DMP chief came up with the warning while talking to reporters at his office on Tuesday.

“The immoral task the officer committed is a minor offence as per the law concerned. But he ignored service rules and disciple. Departmental action will be taken against him,” he said.

On June 14, Porimoni filed the case against businessman Nasir U Mahmood and some other men with Savar Model Police Station, alleging that the accused attempted to rape and kill her at Dhaka Boat Club on June 9.

That day (June 14), the DB Gulshan Division conducted a raid on a house in Uttara area of the capital and arrested Nasir, Tuhin Siddique Ami and two girls with huge Yaba tablets and some other things.

Police filed a drug case against the arrestees. The DB division was carrying out investigation into the case. During the investigation, Saklain, who was an ADC of the division, was engaged in unprofessional conduct with the heroine. As the matter came to light, he was withdrawn from the DB and attached with the DMP’s POM Division.

An investigation committee has already been formed in this regard. And the committee is looking into the matter.

However, Shafiqul Islam said, “After Porimoni was arrested, police have become vigilant on underworld activities. We have found that immoral tasks are being committed in the underworld.”

Reiterating the DMP’s stance, he said they would make any list of the visitors to the residences of the actress and two models Faria Mahbub Piasa and Marium Akhter Mou.

He also informed that he talked to the CID chief on the issue and the CID would not make any list on the visitors.

The DMP head repeated that a syndicate was demanding extortion from some influential people, intimidating them of spreading their photos and videos affixing to those of the heroine and two models.

He gave updated information that some influential people kept them refraining from going to their residences over the last few days in fear of the extortionists.

Earlier on Monday, the DMP chief first revealed the extortion issue to reporters.

On August 1, Gulshan DB police arrested Piasa and Mou from their residences in Gulshan and Mohammadpur.

On August 3, the elite force held currency counterfeiter Mishu Hasan and his associate Jisan.

As per their information, they arrested Porimoni and film producer Nazrul Islam Raz from their residences in Banani next day.
