BFAA suspends Pori Moni, Eka’s membership

The Bangladesh Film Artistes’ Association (BFAA) has temporarily suspended membership of actresses Pori Moni and Eka on Saturday.

Bangladesh Film Artiste Association’s President Misha Shawdagor disclosed the matter at press conference held at Bangladesh Film Development Corporation in the evening. 

“The matter of Pori Moni is very disgusting to the Bangladesh Film Artiste Association. Following the recent media buzz about couple of actresses and models, the Film Artistes Association joined an emergency meeting on Saturday. During the meeting, the regulatory body of the film industry suspended the membership posts of the two actresses,” Misha said.

 “They were suspended from the organisation in accordance with the provisions of Section 6 (Kha) and 9 (Ga) of the constitution of Bangladesh Film Artistes Association,” he added.

BFAA General Secretary Zayed Khan, vice-presidents Dipjol and Rubel, Executive committee members Aruna Biswas, Anjana Sultana, Ali Raj, Joy Chowdhury, among others, were present at the press conference.  

The Rapid Action Battalion on Wednesday arrested film actress Smrity Shamsunnahar, known by her stage name Pori Moni, at her apartment in the capital’s Banani weeks after she had accused businessman Nasir U Mahmood and others over rape attempts in a club on the outskirt of Dhaka in June.

 Earlier, Dhallywood actress Eka was arrested for torturing her domestic help in the capital’s Rampura area on July 31.
