Stocks maintain gaining streak

Country’s both the bourses, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) on Thursday witnessed an upward trend like earlier as investors continued their buying spree on large-cap issues amid optimism.

DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, went up by 60.21 points or 0.92 per cent to settle at 6,596.08. The DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also gained 19.45 points to finish at 2,385.90 and 14.74 points closing at 1,439.34.

Turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, stood at Taka 25,116.66 million on the country’s premier bourse which was Taka 23,144.93

million.

Gainers took a modest lead over the losers, as out of 374 issues traded, 242 closed green, 103 in the red and 29 remained unchanged on

the DSE trading floor.

Beximco topped the turnover chart, followed by Orion pharma, GPH Ispat, Malek Spinning and Saif Power.

CVOPRL was the day’s best performer, posting a gain of 10 percent while ATCSLGF was the worst loser, losing 6.25 percent.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also ended higher with the CSE All Share Price Index – CASPI -advancing 174 points to settle at 19,188.33 and the Selective Categories Index – CSCX gaining 101.36 points to close at 11,513.32.

Of the issues traded, 206 advanced, 95 declined and 24 remained unchanged on the CSE.

The port city’s bourse traded 4 crore shares and mutual fund units with a turnover value of Taka 81.15 crore.
