The country’s most sports federations and sports associations will celebrate the 72nd birth anniversary of Shaheed Captain Sheikh Kamal, the eldest son of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman through various programmes today.
To mark the day, officials of the Bangladesh Olympic Association will pay rich tribute to Sheikh Kamal by placing wreaths at his grave at Banani graveyard around 10 am while it will arrange a milad and doa mahfil on its media center premises at 5:00pm seeking eternal peace of the departed soul.
Bangladesh Taekwondo Federation also chalked out various programmes to mark the day. The BTF will observe the day through daylong programmes like holding doa mahfil seeking eternal peace of the departed soul, cutting cake and painting competition which will be held at Mohammadpur Taekwondo Club.
Besides, the BTF will also hold Sheikh Kamal Smrity Virtual Poomsae competition today to be participated by 250 male and female competitors from 10 taekwondo clubs in different categories.
Meanwhile, Abahani Limited will also observe the 72nd birth anniversary of it’s club founder Shaheed Sheikh Kamal through a various day-long programmes of it’s premises, said a Abahani Limited press release.
The directors, officials and players of Abahani Club pay tribute to Sheikh Kamal by placing wreaths on his portrait at Club premises at 12:01am (early Thursday) by offering special prayer seeking eternal peace for the departed soul of Kamal.
The programmes also include day-long recitation from holy Quran, a virtual discussion meeting of Sheikh Kamal on his illustrious career at 4:00pm and doa-mahfil at the club Bhaban after the Asar prayers maintaining social distancing amid the coronavirus pandemic.
