Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud on Sunday said the people want a ban on politics of those who were involved in August 15 carnage and who opposed Independence of Bangladesh.
“The people of Bangladesh don’t want those who opposed independence, who did not want our independence and those who were involved in the August 15 killings to do politics in the country,” he said.
Mentioning that the trial of killers of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was held in the country, the minister said people hope that those who were involved in the assassination of Bangabandhu, those who including Ziaur Rahman had created plot of the assassination and were involved in the conspiracy should be unmasked.
“A commission should be constituted to unmask the masterminds behind the assassination of Bangabandhu to let the future generation know the history. Otherwise, our history will remain incomplete. After a hundred years, the new generation will not know the truth,” he said.
Paying rich tribute to Bangabandhu, the minister said the torch of independence lit by Bangabandhu will be lit up forever.
Earlier at a programme at the Bangladesh Secretariat marking 64th founding anniversary of National Awami Party (Bhashani), Hasan said ill attempts were carried out to kill the dream of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
“But the country is moving ahead far to materialize the dream of Bangabandhu under the dynamic leadership of Bangabandhu’s daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina,” he said.
