170 more dengue patients hospitalised

The number of single-day dengue patients declined slightly in the last 24 hours till Friday morning as 170 more dengue patients were hospitalised in the country during the time.

The number of dengue patients is increasing across the country as more dengue patients were hospitalised this year compared to that of last year.

According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), a total of 2,090 dengue patients were hospitalised in July, 272 in June, 43 in May, three in April, 13 in March, nine in February and 32 in January.

It said over 100 single-day dengue patients were hospitalised for seven consecutive days in the last 24 hours till Friday morning while 194 dengue patients were reported on Thursday.

The DGHS said 164 new patients were hospitalised in the capital and six patients were outside the city in the last 24 hours till 8:00am on Friday.

A total of 679 patients diagnosed with dengue are now receiving treatment at 41 government and private hospitals in Dhaka while 30 outside the city, it said. However, four deaths caused by dengue have been reported in hospitals this year, the DGHS added.

The unofficial sources from different hospitals said at least six people, who were infected with dengue, died in the country this year.

A total of 2,462 dengue patients were hospitalised across the country, including in Dhaka city, between January and July 30 this year.
