47 structures on hill slopes demolished in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM: A total of 47 illegal structures were evicted from AK Khan Hill in the city’s Lalkhan Bazar area on Wednesday.

The district administration Executive Magistrates Md Inamul Hasan and Fahmida Afroz led the drive with the help of the Department of Environment (DoE), police, fire service, Karnaphuli Gas Distribution Company Limited and PDB.

Staff Officer and Executive Magistrate Md Omar Faruk of the district administration said they conducted the drive to evict the structures developed illegally on the risky hill slopes of AK Khan Hill.

A total of 47 illegal structures were evicted during the drive that started from 9:30am, he said.

Mentionable, the drive was conducted following a decision of Hill Management Committee to save life and properties from the feared landslide during this rainy season.
