Around one hundred stranded Bangladeshis intending to go to Malaysia staged a demonstration in front of National Press Club on Tuesday morning demanding government’s quick steps to send them to their workplaces.
Under the banner of Malaysia Probashi Oikya Parishad, they formed a human chain and submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister’s office seeking government’s measures to resolve their crisis.“Thousands of Malaysia-bound Bangladeshi workers have run out of all their savings, but they haven’t seen any change in their fate in the last one and a half years,” said Mohammad Jashim, one of the organisers of the programme.
“The government is helping Saudi-bound workers. We appreciate it. We want to say we are all remittance fighters. We deserve equal treatment from the government.”
Tafsir Khan, another organiser of the programme, said, “We want the government to provide us vaccine and begin effective diplomatic efforts to send us back to Malaysia.
