Rain brings relief from scorching heat

People from different parts of the country, including Dhaka, experienced intermittent rainfall having respite from unbearable scorching heat.

The sky over Dhaka was heavily clouded at 11 am and gradually darkness covered it completely. Then it started raining with temporary gusty or squally wind.

The rain also caused gridlock in a few areas in the capital, causing sufferings to the commuters. Two matches of Dhaka Premier League between Legends of Rupganj and Old DOHS and Prime Doleshwar and Brothers’ Union were washed away in BKSP.

The rainy weather may continue till Tuesday in Dhaka and other parts of the country.

Meteorologist Md Hafizur Rahman said, “Rain may continue across the country till Tuesday. The temperature may decrease a bit and the intensity of rain may increase.”

“The temperature may increase later this week, but it will remain in tolerable level until the monsoon winds arrive,” he added.

According to the sources at the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) office, light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind is likely to occur at many places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Khulna, Dhaka, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet division in the next 24 hours.

The met office recorded highest rainfall 61 mm at Kurigram’s Rajarhat while Nilphamari’s Dimla and Rangpur witnessed 52 mm rain.

The temperature may drop in Chandpur, Feni, Noakhali, Khulna and Moulvibazar districts thanks to the rainy weather, According to BMD.
