CHATTOGRAM: Four more patients have died of Covid-19 in the district in 24 hours till Tuesday morning. With this, the number of total death stood at 602 in the district after recording the first death on April 9 last year, sources said.

Of them, 434 were from the city and 168 from different upazilas in the district. A total of 100 people among the total 434 died in the last one month.

Besides, 93 more patients tested corona positive in the 24 hours till Tuesday morning.

Of the infected patients, 64 were from the city and 29 from different upazilas. Sources in the Chattogram district Civil Surgeon office said that a total of 755 samples were tested at the eight laboratories and 93 of them were found as positive.

Mentionable, a total of 38,790 patients also recovered from the disease in Chattogram district till Monday.

On the other hand, a study conducted by researchers of Chittagong Veterinary and Animal Science University (Cvasu) found African variant of Covid-19 in Chattogram recently. A total of six people, who returned from India, tested at CVASU laboratory.

Five of them were found Covid-19 negative and one positive. The researchers detected African variant in the sample of the positive patient, said the sources concerned.
