3 ‘drug traffickers’ held in capital

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested three members of an inter-district drug trafficking ring conducting a drive in New Market area in the city on Friday night, reports BSS.

The arrestees are Md Sabuj Mia, 40, Md Kamruzzaman, 36, and Md Azimul, 38.

A private car used for trafficking drugs and 285 bottles of Phensedyl were also seized during the operation.

Abdullah Al Mamun, Assistant Superintendent of Police (Media) of RAB-2 said, on secret information, a team of elite force set up a checkpoint in front of Balaka Shopping Complex on Mirpur Road under New Market Police Station around 9:30 pm on Friday.

During the primary interrogation, the arrestees admitted that they were smuggling drugs under the guise of transporting passengers in private cars.
