IU Prof Ahsan dies of corona

Dr Muhammad Ahsan Ullah Faisal, professor of the Department of Da’wah and Islamic Studies at Islamic University (IU), died of Covid-19 while he was on the way to Dhaka for receiving better treatment on Wednesday night.

He left behind his wife, two sons, numerous students and a host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn his death.

IU Vice-Chancellor Prof Shaikh Abdus Salam, Treasurer Prof Alamgir Hossain Bhuiya, IU Teachers’ Association, Shapla Forum, Bangabandhu Parishad, IU Journalists’ Association and different teacher and student associations have expressed deep shock at his death.

Prof Faisal was buried at his family graveyard at his ancestral village home in Noakhali’s Begumganj on Thursday following his namaz-e-janaza.

He was a student of the second batch of the university’s Da’wah department.

He also served as the chairman of the department, hall provost, student advisor and vice president of IU Teachers’ Association of the university.
