Govt urged to resume BRTA vehicle registration

Bangladesh Reconditioned Vehicles Importers and Dealers Association (BARVIDA) has urged the government to resume vehicle registration service at Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) in a limited scale.

They said that car importers and dealers are being able to unload imported vehicles as sea ports, customs house and banks have been open amid the lockdown.

Though they are bringing imported cars, but the car buyers are not getting registration and number due to the closure of BRTA office.

Considering the fact, BARVIDA has demanded to keep open BRTA office in a limited scale so that vehicles get registered, they said in a letters.

BARVIDA has already requested the BRTA, Road Transport and Bridges Ministry and Prime Minister’s Office to start registration activities under the special service during the lockdown period.

They said that it would boost revenue and ease car users’ difficulties.

The BARVIDA has been expressing solidarity to help the government with paying a good amount of revenue from the reconditioned cars sales during the critical time of the pandemic when the government needs a lot of money to revive the economy with facing a lot of challenges.
