4 of a family killed in Sylhet road crash

Five people including four of a family were killed after a truck had hit a CNG-run auto-rickshaw on Sylhet-Tamabil highway in Jaintiapur upazila of Sylhet district on Sunday.

The deceased were identified as Sadia Begum, 39, wife of late Jamal Ahmed, her son Shahadat, daughter Sabia Begum, 7, Habibunnecha, sister of late Jamal and auto-rickshaw driver Hossen Ahmed, 35.

Two people were also injured in the accident. They are Sadia’s brother-in-law Md Jakaria, 50 and his wife Hasina Begum, 40.

They all were inhabitants of Pakhibel and Rupcheng villages of the upazila.

A Jaflong-bound truck hit a CNG-run auto-rickshaw when it reached Ferryghat area, leaving five people dead on the spot and two others injured, police said.

Dastageer Ahmed, Officer-in-Charge of Jaintiapur Model Police Station,               

said on information police rushed to the spot, recovered the bodies and sent those to MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.

The injured were also sent to the same hospital for treatment.
