Four more die of corona, 279 cases detected in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM: A total of four patients died of Covid-19 while 279 people out of 1,810 have tested positive for coronavirus in the last 24 hours at seven Covid-19 laboratories in the district, reports BSS.

According to the hospital sources, the infection rate is 15.41 percent during the period.

Among the infected patients, 209 are from Chattogram city and 70 from different upazilas of the district.

The number of coronavirus (COVID-19) deaths in Chattogram reached 486, Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi, civil surgeon of Chattogram, told BSS on Saturday.

“Among the reported fatalities, 362 were the residents of the port city and the rest were from different upazilas of the district,” he said, adding that the number of Covid-19 cases speedily rose to 48,716 in Chattogram district where the infection and causality rate continues rising hurriedly again in recent weeks.

“The infection rate is showing a quickly rising trend again and recovery rate declining continuously in the district in recent weeks,” Focal Person of the Covid-19 Dr Rabbi said.

Among the total 48,716 coronavirus infected people, 39,100 are the residents of the port city and the remaining 9,616 are the inhabitants of different upazilas of the district, he said.

“The number of recovered patients from the lethal virus infection has reached 36,187 in the Chattogram district with the recovery of 105 more patients on Friday,” he said, adding that the percentage of recovery rate stands at 74.30.

A total of 1,452 infected patients are now undergoing treatment at designated hospitals here in Chattogram, the health official said.
