Bangladesh Embassy in Washington DC observed the historic Mujibnagar Day on Saturday with due solemnity and respect.
To mark the day, the embassy organised a discussion at Bangabandhu auditorium of the Chancery in the morning.Messages issued by President Md Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Mujibnagar Day were read out. A documentary titled “Mujibnagar Sarker” was screened at the event, said a press release of the embassy in Washington DC.
Bangladesh Ambassador to the United States M Shahidul Islam along with diplomats working in the embassy was present in the programme.
Meanwhile, speakers at a discussion in Ottawa, Canada have said the new generation will be able to know the country’s true history and will be encouraged to contribute in building a ‘Sonar Bangla’ as dreamt by Bangabandhu through observance of the Mujibnagar Day.
