Juba Dal leader put on 5-day remand

A Dhaka Court on Thursday placed Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal Dhaka City South unit former President Rafiqul Alam Majnu on a five-day remand in a case filed over an attack on police in front of the Jatiya Press Club in the capital.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Debabrata Biswas passed the order after sub-inspector Gulam Hossain Khan produced him before the court seeking a 10 day remand.

According to the case, on February 28, leaders and activists of Chhatra Dal held a rally in front of Jatiya Press Club. From the rally, the leaders and activists attacked the police and threw brickbats.

Police filed a case with the Shahbagh Police Station alleging assault, attempted murder and vandalism.

In the case, 48 leaders and activists of BNP and 200 to 250 unidentified persons have been accused.
