Jahangirabad Central Zone win gold in men’s cricket

Jishan Alam played a spectacular innings of 169 runs as Jahangirabad Central Zone defeated Varendra North Zone by seven wickets in the final to win the gold medal in the men’s cricket event of Bangabandhu Bangladesh Games in Barishal on Saturday.

Jishan struck 20 fours and eight sixes in his 119-ball innings that helped Central Zone to reach 273-3 in 40.2 overs while chasing a target of 271 runs.

Earlier, Nayeem Ahmed scored 128 off 129 balls and guided North Zone to score 270-6 in their stipulated 50 overs after opting to bat first.

Shahriar Alom took three wickets for Central Zone.

Bangladesh Blue earlier won the gold medal in the women’s cricket event of Bangabandhu Bangladesh Games, which ended on Saturday.
