7 BCL leaders expelled for supporting Hefazat

At least seven leaders from different units of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) were expelled from their respective posts for supporting and campaigning in favour of religious bigots of Hefazat-e-Islam.

The BCL leaders were involved in campaigning and sharing post on Facebook in favour of Hefazat and its joint secretary general Mamunul Haque, which is a breach of orgnisational discipline, press releases mentioned.

On Thursday, Rangamati district unit of BCL expelled Abir Hasan, organizing secretary of Rangamati municipal unit, for supporting Hefazat’s destructive activities, a press release said.

Earlier, the BCL also expelled Omar Faruq, organising secretary of Kaptai union in Rangamati for supporting Hefazat’s acts.

Two BCL leaders M Azizul Haque, publicity secretary of Sonaichori union, and M Gias Uddin Saleh, ward no-2 of Bhatiari union, under Chattogram district were also expelled.

Central BCL also expelled M Faiz Uddin Ahmed, joint general secretary of Sunamganj BCL, M Jainal Mia, deputy publicity secretary of Bangladesh Textile University unit, and Asir M Umon, member of Bangladesh Textile University unit, for breaching party discipline.
