Besides fighting against all other enemies outside and inside, we are fighting against an invisible virus. This pandemic of Covid-19 has already infected people and their activity all over the world. Children are not the exception. Like the deadly fairy tales who told children to stay home because of the fear of some deadly dragons or kidnappers, we are keeping our tiny tots safe at home. Their classes are being held through online. Like other courses their classes are now being held through online. The pursuit of happiness in education has always been the aspiration to the educators. To ensure happy English language learning of children besides flipped classroom we need to bring few more innovations. In Bangladesh, already we have lot of ELT (English Language Teaching (ELT)) programs. All these programs try to bring forth positive reformations in different fields such as reformation of teacher, curriculum, and students’ participation in regard to teaching and learning English.
The United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) recommended the use of distance learning programmes and open educational applications and platforms that schools and teachers can use to reach learners remotely and limit the disruption of education. The teachers and researchers attempt to make use of any novel pedagogical approach in order to ensure more fruitful teaching and maximum learning even during this pandemic. On this trend appears the question of flipped classroom as effective tool of teaching for children which is a new and digitalized method of teaching and learning, and which has already gained substantial recognition in the developed educational setups. Bhuiyan and Mahmud (2015) while esteeming flipped classroom in the academic context of Bangladesh find it to be an innovative way of teaching to excel learning. Simultaneously, they surmise that it is the latest invention and celebrated outcome of the experimental teaching and learning methods which have incessantly been tried out to reach more practicable results than the age-old black board-white board techniques.Psychological Well Being (PWB) is one of the key elements of education. There are six factors to be considered to promote psychological well-being. They are self-acceptance, personal growth, purpose in life, environmental mastery, autonomy, positive relations with others. Stress as a function of the demands can affect anyone who feels extreme pressure of work. The external source of demands often spring from outside sources, such as family, jobs, friends, or school and the internal source of demands also can appear from within.For kids academic and social pressures create stress.
Through flipping classes we can create an atmosphere of schools at home for a certain period of the day. Apart from conducting classes or teaching, there are immense requirements of mutual consructive talk with children. Parents as well as teachers should talk with children in a way that can make them feel the positive forces of life, work and study. Talking with kids about how they do feel regarding extracurricular activities, present situation, prayers, study, food, art, music etc. can sometimes unlock the treasure of their hidden genius. Since children are passing major learning time with parents or elders at home, the drive to remain happy in life should come from them. Children may pick up their parents' anxieties and start to worry themselves even when studying. English Language Learning (ELL) materials in this changed situation should be differently organised for children. To ensure happy ELL we should motivate them to learn a new language for adding new eyes to view the whole world and represent our world to the whole world.
In many cases on-line English Language classes are focusing major concern on listening the videos and submitting assignments on it. In some cases on behalf of kids parents are preparing and submitting assignments what has far reaching negative effects in their career and future education. Children love to do innovative works. Creative writing in English, reading easy stories and speaking about these with parents and teachers will keep them engaged in ELL (English Language Learning) system. Moreover as long monotonous online classes are stressful to many of them, arranging short attractive English classes with visual aids are suggested.
Arranging online English classes through flipping classroom for children is surely an innovative approach. In one hand it is preparing our future leaders to cope with the trend of serendipitous learning afforded by the global digital technology. However, such innovative attempts are still far reachable for disadvantaged children and their families. There are a number of impediments too like interrupted learning, dependent teaching and learning context, malnutrition, much prolonged screen time, attending classes at night or without any fixed time, negative health issues like weak eye vision, irregular sleep schedules, headaches, short temper and psychological effects, tempting sights, originated from flipping classes. All these factors can affect their positive emotions of feeling good. Additionally, pandemic stressors including terror of infection, dissatisfaction and monotony, lack of knowledge, lack of personal space at home, and family’s financial loss may have even more upsetting and continuing impacts on children’s health. While flipping English language classes for ensuring happy Education for children an innovative pedagogical model at nursery level in Bangladesh with consideration of all these issues stated above should be developed and promoted.
