A Bangladesh Cricket Board official said on Tuesday that they have altered their plan regarding the ongoing National Cricket League in order to continue the tournament despite the rise of coronavirus across the country.

The first round of the matches were played in Khulna, Rajshahi, Barisal and BKSP while in the second round two matches were played in Cox’s Bazar while BKSP and Rangpur hosted the other two matches.

Initially it was planned all the teams will play in different venues to make sure that cricketers get a chance to adapt in different wickets.

But from now onwards the teams of NCL first tier will play their games in BCB under the bio-bubble while the teams of the second tier will play in Cox’s Bazaar.

“We have planned to host the tournament in different venues but now we have changed our plan due to corona and from now onwards first-tier team will play in BKSP while the second tier team will play in Cox’s Bazaar,” said a BCB official on Tuesday. Several cricketers are tested corona positive in the ongoing National Cricket League.

Sylhet Division were hit by the pandemic as they lost six cricketers- Ebadat Hossain, Khaled Ahmed, Imtiaz Hossain, Rezaur Rahman, Toufiq Khan and Alok Kapali.

While Ebadat was tested positive on the third day of the opening phase the remaining four cricketers could not take part after being tested positive before the second-round match.

“All of them are currently in the isolation,” said a BCB official.

In Rangpur Division, Akbar Ali while Naeem Islam and Alauddin Babu are tested corona negative in their second test.

Coach Wahidul Gani and trainer Munir are also tested corona positive. Opener Sadman recovered from corona and can take part in the second-round game. Ashraful is lucky not to have corona as he was tested a negative second time when he had given the test but as the report arrived later he could not be part of the team.
