The second round of the ongoing 22nd National Cricket League was hit by several Covid-19 cases as Barishal Division player Mohammad Ashraful and Sylhet Division cricketer Ebadot Hossain were tested positive.

Both Ashraful and Ebadot along with Dhaka Metropolis cricketer Shadman Islam, who tested positive before the first round, are expected to undergo a second Covid-19 test on Sunday and they can only play their respective matches only if they tested negative.

Defending champions Khulna Division will be looking to continue the winning form when they take on Rangpur Division in the second round match at the Rangpur Cricket Ground today.

Khulna started the tournament with an eight-wicket victory over Sylhet Division in their tier-1 first-round match while Rangpur had to face an 80-run defeat against Dhaka Division in the other tier-1 match.

Dhaka will meet Sylhet in the other tier-1 match at the Sheikh Kamal International Cricket Stadium ground -2 in Cox’s Bazar.

Dhaka Metropolis and Chattogram Division will lock horns in a tier-2 match at the Sheikh Kamal International Cricket Stadium ground -1 in Cox’s Bazar with both winning their opening matches against Barishal Division and Rajshahi Division respectively.

Dhaka Metro defeated Barishal by eight wickets while Chattogram beat Rajshahi by 88 runs in their first-round matches.

Barishal will face Rajshahi at the BKSP in the day’s other match.
