Robi donates Tk18.9m for labour welfare

Telecom operator Robi has donated Tk 18.9 million, a stipulated portion of its annual profit, to Labour Welfare Fund for the wellbeing of workers of the country.

State Minister for Labour and Employment Begum Monnujan Sufian received a cheque of the amount from Robi’s Chief Human Resources Officer Md Faisal Imtiaz Khan at the Secretariat on Tuesday.

Under the Bangladesh labour law, domestic and foreign companies have to contribute one-tenth of 5 per cent of their annual profit to this fund at the end of the year.

These funds are spent on the welfare of the workers engaged in formal and informal sectors.

Among others, Secretary for Ministry of Labour and Employment KM Abdus Salam, Director General of Bangladesh Workers Welfare Foundation Begum Jebunnesa Karim,

 Shakila Jerin Ahmed, Robi Vice President (Policy and Stakeholders Relations) Dewan Najmul Hasan, Vice President (Public Affairs) Sharif Shah Jamal Raj were present on the occasion.
