Lawmaker Mahmud Us Samad Chowdhury from Sylhet-3 constituency was laid to rest at his family graveyard in Nurpur village of Fenchuganj in Sylhet on Friday evening.
Earlier, his namaj-e-janaza was held on Fenchuganj’s Kasim Ali Model Government School premises around 5:15pm.Sylhet Divisional Commissioner, DIG Sylhet, Sylhet Deputy Commissioner, Superintend of Police, Circle SPs, upazilla chairmen of Dokkhin Surma, Fenchuganj and Balaganj, Awami League leaders and activists and people from different walks of life took part in the namaj-e-janaza.
The rulling party lawmaker who was elected from Dokkhin Surma, Fenchuganj and Balaganj upzilla for consecutive three times died of coronavirus at capital’s United Hospital on Thursday.
A Bangladesh Air Force helicopter carrying the body of Mahmud Us Samad reached Fenchuganj NGFF play ground at 12:00pm.
The body was taken to the MP’s Nurpur house through an ambulance where representatives of local administration, leaders of different political parties and activists of various social and cultural organisations and his relatives paid their last respect to him.
